TOLEDO — Charles E. Salyer, 80, of Clyde, died Tuesday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo
He was born Feb. 15, 1928 in Salyersville, Ky., son of the late Harmon and Lona (Honaker) Salyer. He was a member of the Harvest Temple Church, the Masonic Lodge and Zenobia Temple.
He served in the Army during World War II and had worked for 35 years at the Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Veda (Steven) Doebel of Clyde; a son, Danny Salyer of Clyde; three grandchildren; and siblings, Wilbur Salyer of Norwalk, Glen Salyer of Willard and Betty Powers of Middletown.
He was preceded by his wife, Mattie (Rowe) Salyer on Oct. 7, 1995.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. The funeral will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Harvest Temple Church with the Rev. James Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens with military graveside services provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
