BELLEVUE — Carl D. “Snuffy” Sherman, 83, of Bellevue died Tuesday at The Arbors at Clyde.

 He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Bellevue, the son of the late Samuel and Florence (Herner) Sherman. He was a 1943 graduate of Bellevue High School. He was an ironworker for Structural Steel Local 17 for 40 years.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue and Eagles 490. He loved working in the yard and doing anything outdoors, his grandkids, sporting events, OSU and Woody Hayes.

He is survived by his sons, Leslie C. (Nancy) Sherman and Brian D. Sherman, both of Bellevue; a daughter, Diane M. Patten, Bellevue; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret (Corwin) Sherman, whom he married June 15, 1947 in Fremont and who died July 22, 2007; and a brother, Donald L. “Hunk” Sherman.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Wally Seibel officiating.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
