ASHLAND, KY. — Billie Jo Bolen, age 78, resident of West Portsmouth, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008 in the King's Daughters' Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born on September 14, 1929 in Zelda, Kentucky to the late William and Jessie (Smith) Baugh. She had been a resident of Willard for fifty years then moving to West Portsmouth to live out the rest of her life. She was a homemaker and a mother of nine children.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Bolen, whom she married on June 2, 1948; five daughters, Tonia Rowe of West Portsmouth, OH; Bertha Hale of Portsmouth, OH; Joyce Lovejoy of West Hamiln, WV; Libby Neace of Portsmouth, OH; and Penny Bragg of West Portsmouth, OH; three sons, Michael Bolen of West Portsmouth, OH; Ralph Bolen of West Portsmouth, OH; and Elmer Bolen, Jr. of Hindman, KY; 10 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Melvin Bolen; two brothers, Donald and Claude Baugh; and a sister, Bertha Barnett.
Friends may call at the Freewill Baptist Church on Keefer Street in Willard, Ohio on Sunday, June 1, 2008 beginning at 6:00 PM, and continuing through Monday and Tuesday where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday with Reverend Ron Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio.
