OBERLIN Warren E. Bowman, 83, of Oberlin, died April 28, 2007 at University Hospitals, following a sudden illness.
He was born March 25, 1924 in Wellington. He lived in Lorain County his entire life and was a 1942 graduate of Camden High School.
During World War II he stayed home to help on the family farm and became a Camden Township Volunteer Fireman. He was employed at Parson's Jersey Dairy for a number of years and then worked for Pretzer and Company until his retirement. He was an active member of the Kipton United Church of Christ for most of his life and he was a member of the Wam Bams square dancing group for many years. He enjoyed gardening, raising his own tomatoes and geraniums from seed, square dancing, traveling and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise (Heazlit); daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Roy Varga of Wellington, Karen and Tim Schrader of Oberlin and Kristy and Clint Bement of Wakeman; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Rose (Wagner) Bowman; brothers, Oliver and Harold; and a nephew, Dean Bowman.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. May 11 at the Camden Township Hall at SR 511 and SR 303.
