Virginia June (Cornell) Hollands, 82, of Norwalk, and formerly of Sylvania, Ohio, and Erie, Pa., died Wednesday at Twilight Gardens Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in 1925 to Arthur Darwin and Iva Viola (Williams) Cornell, in Hillsdale, Mich., she was one of six children. The widow of Laurie Lester Hollands, who preceded her in 1994, she kept herself busy raising five children of her own. She retired from Erie General Electric in 1985 after 20 years of service. She loved to bowl and kept her mind busy doing crossword puzzles. Sunday mornings often found her chuckling while reading the comic strip.
She is survived by her children Judith (Marty) Hartman of Oshkosh, Wisc., James of Sylvania, Ohio, Richard Michael (Davida) of Erie, Pa., and Robert A. (Nancy) of Norwalk. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Laurie, son Roger D. and by her sisters Carole Baranowski and Billie Scott and brother Roy Glenn Cornell.
She is survived by her brothers James A. (Shirley) and Richard G. (Jackie) Cornell of Toledo.
