WILLARD - Rosemary M. Schaffer, 77 of Willard, died Saturday morning at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born Dec. 26, 1929 in Sandusky, daughter of the late Joseph H. and Martha E. (Bouy) Michel, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Bellevue, Ohio and its Rosary and Altar Society. She was also a member of Firelands Post 2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Eagles Aerie 711 Auxiliary.
She retired from Norwalk Furniture in 1993 with 20 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was forever young, enjoying life and spending time with her family, many special friends and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas P. Schaffer of Willard; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael T. Schaffer of Willard, David J. Schaffer of Fairfield, Iowa, Jack A. Schaffer of Norwalk, and Thomas J. and Martha Schaffer of Waterville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne M. Schaffer of Monroeville, Jill A. and John Schaechterle of Milan, Mary Jo E. Schaffer of Monroeville, and Julie A. and Patrick Ruffing of Bellevue; 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law; and a special friend, Mary Adams of Willard.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Michel; and by an infant sister, Elizabeth Michel.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where prayer services will be held at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gaspar Catholic Church, 16209 County Road 46, Bellevue with the Rev. Paul Fahrbach officiating. Internment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville.
