AMHERST - Rose Mary (Eonta) Swan, 77, of Amherst, died Wednesday at Amherst Hospital ER following a sudden illness.
She was born Jan. 29, 1930 in Canonsburg, Pa.. She was raised and had made her home in Pennsylvania for 33 years before moving to Amherst.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian American Veterans in Lorain. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Allen Swan; a son, Tad Swan of LaCross, Wis.; six grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Eonta of North Carolina; and sisters, Cecilia Scheldt of Baltimore, Md., Caroline Dormo and Virginia Dick, both of Michigan, Mary Uchal of Canonsburg, Pa. and Joanne Hoffman of Cecil, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her sons, John Allen Swan in 2004 and Brian Charles Swan in 1959; brothers, Charles, Phillip and Nicholas; a sister, Emiline Renk; and parents, Alexander and Frances (Lucciola) Eonta.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
