WILLARD - Roland "Ron" C. Anthony, 96, of Willard, died Saturday in Ruxton Health of Alexandria in Alexandria, Va.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1911 in Alliance, son the late Jesse and Ruth (James) Anthony, and moved to Willard in 1920. During the Great Depression, he dropped out of school to help support his family. Determined to complete his education, he returned and graduated from Willard High School in 1932 at the age of 21. He used that same determination to become a successful businessman as owner of Ron's Body Shop, Willard Frame and Alignment Service, and Willard Shell Service. He retired in 1976 from MidWest Industries.

He was a Mason, lifetime member and former Exalted Ruler of the Willard B.P.O.E., and former member of the Willard Eagles Club.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roland "Rollo" and Roxie Anthony of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Martha King of Wilmington, N.C.; six grandchildren, Dale Jr., Jeffrey, Paula, Roland III, Merrina and Jason; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Goldie G. Anthony on April 30, 1999; daughter, Kaye E. Anderson on April 16, 2003; his parents; and a brother, Glen Anthony.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard with the Rev. Kathryn Rhoads officiating.
