NORWALK - Richard L. Sipple, 80, of Norwalk, died early Sunday morning at Gaymont Nursing Center.
He was born March 8, 1927 in Cleveland, son of the late Richard L. and Stella M. (Kinelberger) Sipple Sr. and came to this area in 1959 from Cleveland.
He was a member of Norwalk First United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of Firelands Post 2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Norwalk and Mt. Vernon Lodge 64 of Norwalk.
He was a former employee of Cleveland Ignition and was the former owner of Sipp's Service Station in Parma. He was a former Norwalk councilman and former member of the Norwalk zoning board. He was a volunteer at the former Norwalk Memorial Hospital and at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He enjoyed model trains and was an AKA dog obedience trainer.
He is survived by his daughters, Karina L. Sipple of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Susanne S. Reed of Monroeville; three grandchildren; and an extended family member, John Reed of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine D. (Weidman) Sipple in 1993.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where Masonic services will be conducted by Mt. Vernon Lodge 64 at 6:45 p.m. Friday. Inurment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
