OMAHA, Neb. - Richard Andrew "Dick" Hirbe, of Omaha Neb., died July 14.

He was born in Detroit to Fred and Della Hirbe and raised in Norwalk, Ohio.

His early career was as a teaching golf professional in various country clubs in Ohio and Florida. In the 1940s, he was under contract with MGM studios in Hollywood and appeared in several motion pictures including the Hargrove movies. He later returned to the game of golf as a teaching pro and eventually retired in 1982 in Houston, Texas. He and his family then returned to California. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Omaha.

He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Eubanks of Omaha, Susan Popejoy of Redding, Calif., Stephanie Birkelback of Omaha, and Lori Hirbe of Oakland, Neb.; a son, Bro. Richard, F.S.P. of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Joyce Hirbe of Redding, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Hirbe) and James Mushett of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Stantler); sisters, Helen Wickham and Betty Freed; and a brother, Jack Hirbe.

The Mass will take place at the Motherhouse of the Friars of the Sick Poor in Long Beach, Calif. Burial alongside his wife will take place in Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, Calif.
