COLUMBUS - Richard "Rick" A. Coughlin, 54, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Saturday while vacationing with his wife in Florida.
He was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School. He was married to Anita in 1983 and had two daughters, Kelly, 22 and Corey, 20. He had recently retired as a self-employed heavy equipment salesman and was looking forward to spending more time with his family. He was happiest outdoors and could always be found working with his hands or building something for somebody. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling and being on the water.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Anita; daughters, Kelly and Corey; parents, Al and Lois; brothers, Mike, Tom (Debbie), Al (Debbie) and Joe; sisters Kathy (Bruno) Capogreco and Patty Coughlin; mother-in-law, Elsie Rupp of Norwalk; special friend, Sue Coughlin; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio. A burial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, where he had been a member. The Rev. Justin Reis will officiate along with two co-celebrants, the Revs. Raymond Lavelle and Barry Bentz.
