WILLARD - Robert Jay Beagle, 77, of Willard, died Tuesday at Willard Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 6, 1929 in Hancock County's Jackson Township, son of the late Jay and Ancel (Crates) Beagle. He had been a resident of Willard since 1956.
He was a graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School in 1947. He was employed by the B&O Railroad in Willard, was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers for 35 years, Findlay Masonic Lodge and life member of NRA. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Beagle, whom he wed May 28, 1956; sons and daughter-in-law, Frank A. Smith of Los Angeles and Timothy Jay Sr. and Dawn Beagle of Willard; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Mark Fox of Dublin and Carol Irene Renne of Bend, Oregon; a step son, Daniel E. Fruth (Sharon) of Mt. Clemons, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou Cole of Orange, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Close; and a brother, Morris Beagle.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Secor Funeral Home in Willard. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Houcktown Cemetery, Houcktown with Masonic and military services planned.
