CHANDLER, Ariz. Robert H. Kearney, 86, formerly of Norwalk, Ohio, died Friday in Chandler, Ariz.
He was born in Norwalk, Ohio, the eldest of eight children of the late H. Butler and Marion Kearney.
He was a proud veteran of World War II., serving in the Army in the 37th Division, 145th Infantry in the Solomon Islands in the Pacific. He formerly worked at Maxie Tire and Norwalk Concrete Industries. He resided in the Norwalk area until 1978, when the family moved to Arizona.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Pat) Kearney of Moreno Valley, Calif., Ronald (Sharon) Kearney of Chandler and Barbara (Russ) Street of Bellevue, Ohio.; six grandsons and four great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores and Glenn Smith and Betty Rhodes of Norwalk, Ohio, Vivian and James Hopkins of Chandler; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernie and Maude of Newtown, Pa. and Howard and Barb of Sandusky, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Weinert), to whom he was married for 58 years; and brothers, Raymond and Theodore.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday both at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Ariz. Burial with military honors will follow immediately in Valley of the Sun Cemetery.
