PORT CLINTON Rev. Charles W. Rogers, 67, of Port Clinton, died Saturday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born Nov. 4, 1939 in Cuyahoga Falls to the late Elias Price and Esther Elizabeth (Smith) Rogers.

He married Louise Rentschler Aug. 6, 1958. He was a Lutheran Minister having served in three churches in Reynolds, North Dakota, then at Ossineke, Mich., and also at St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge. He then went to work as a youth counselor in Erie County for a couple of years. He then went back to serve as a Lutheran Minister at Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, and finally at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury Township, where he retired in 2005. He was also a member of the Ministerial Association.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cheryl Rogers of Troy and David and Brenda Rogers of Gibsonburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tim Bretz of Sunberry and Laura and Matthew Ball of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Lori Rogers of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister and brother-in-law, Murle and Vincent Harris of Greentown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Rogers and Wayne Rogers; and sisters, Betty Witner, Nina Mae Justin and Elwilda Purdy.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Marblehead. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with additional visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury Twp. Bishop Marcus C. Lohrmann from the Northwestern Ohio Synod, ELCA and the Rev. Chris Young of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
