PLYMOUTH - Mabel L. Akers, 83, of Plymouth, died Monday in Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
She was born Aug. 13, 1923 in Floyd Co., Ky. to the late Reed Carrol and Havana (Slone) Gibson and had been a resident of the Plymouth-Shelby area since 1960.
She was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, was a great gardener and most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Robert Bell of Plymouth; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lucretta Akers of New Haven and Ronnie and Jamie Akers of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Linda Gibson of Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Akers.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Linda Heinaman will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
