NEW LONDON - Lester Eugene Schwinn, 57, of New London, died Tuesday with his father, step-mother, brothers, sister, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews by his side following a brief illness.
He was born April 29, 1950 in Elyria, grew up on the family farm in Valley City and resided in New London with his sister and her family for 21 years.
For many years, he helped his family dairy farm and enjoyed milking cows and riding in the grain trucks with his brothers and brother-in-law.
He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and dancing at many of their weddings. He would often play hide and seek with his many nieces and nephews.
Listening to the radio during care rides was a favorite pass time with many of his family members. He enjoyed the frequent trips to Ponderosa with his father and mother.
He is survived by his father and his wife, Bill Schwinn and Kathleen Schwinn (Dommin) of Valley City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Diana (Willkom) Schwinn, Robert and Becky (Miller) Schwinn; sister and brother-in-law-Pat and Denny Dvorak, all of New London; nine nieces and six nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose (nee Dowdell) Schwinn; a brother, David; and a sister-in-law, Karen (Weinbroer) Schwinn.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City, Ohio. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, with the Rev. Thomas Dunphy officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery, Valley City.
