CLYDE LaVonne M. Clapp, 80, of Clyde, died Sunday at Stein Hospice in Sandusky.

She was born July 11, 1926 in Flat Rock to the late Leo and Edna (Burdett) Kelle.

She was a member of the First Missionary Church, Clyde and the Retired teachers of Sandusky County. LaVonne enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband and family, as well as football, golf, tennis and basketball on television.

In 1944 she graduated from Thompson High School and then from Tiffin University in 1946. Later, she graduated from Bowling Green and for 23 years taught school in Republic and Bellevue.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Jack Rine of Green Springs and Barbara and Roger Liston of Bellevue; sons and daughters-in-law, William David and Kathy Clapp of Flat Rock and Richard Clapp (Carolyn LaJennis) of La Peer, Mich. and Ronald and MaryAnn Clapp of Flat Rock; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Ted Good of Burgoon and Jane Miller of Bellevue.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Clapp, whom she married July 20, 1945 and who died Dec. 23, 2000; a son, Michael I. Clapp; and a sister, Leola Brine.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Missionary Church, Clyde. The Rev. Henry Favorite will officiate. Burial will be in Lay-Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
