COLLINS - Karl E. Riedy, 60, of Collins, died Saturday afternoon at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born March 26, 1947 in Sandusky and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a 1965 graduate of Western Reserve High School. He was a 1998 graduate of Terra Tech Truck Driving Academy.

He was a veteran of the Air Force from 1966 to 1966 and served in Germany as a jet mechanic.

He was a farmer and former employee of Brooker Brothers Forging Company for 28 years, and was currently employed as a commercial truck driver for Todd Ruck Trucking Company.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie 711, Norwalk, AMVETS Post 17 of Sandusky, and Monroeville American Legion Post 547.

He was an avid softball player for Berlin Heights and Norwalk Rec League Softball. He was an avid Ohio State fan and also enjoyed the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Cleveland Browns, and watching his grandsons sporting events. He also enjoyed dancing, basketball and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Margaret L. (Haker) Riedy of Collins; a son, Richard A. Riedy of Collins; a daughter, Danet L. Riedy of Collins; three grandchildren; mother, Jeannette R. (Baaske) Riedy of Collins; brother and sister-in-law, Paul E. and Alicia Riedy of Richmond, Wash.; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia A. and Jeffrey Emerick of Norwalk and Susan M. and Dennis Sponer of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard C. Riedy in 1998; a brother, Howard J. Riedy in 1968; and a sister, Janice Ann Riedy in 1948.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday.
