NORWALK Jose C. Ramos, 73, of Norwalk, died Saturday morning at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 9, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Delfino and Matilda (Cisneros) Ramos and came to this area in 1948 from San Antonio.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving in Korea and retired in 1999 from Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Norwalk. He was a former employee of the Norfolk & Western Railroad, Bellevue Yard and the Norwalk Foundry. He enjoyed watching professional football and family barbecues.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda (Crum) Ramos of Norwalk; sons and daughter-in-law, Mario and Sandra Ramos of Norwalk and Mark Ramos of Concord, New Hampshire; a daughter, Sylvia Ramos of Willard; a step-daughter, Sandi and Tracey Lieb of Norwalk; 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one step great-grandson; a brother, Manuel Ramos of Amarillo, Texas; and sisters, Juanita Valdez of San Antonio, Texas, Constance Flores of Toledo and Mary Retana of Toledo.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Ann Ramos; brothers, Daniel and Delfino, Jr. Ramos; and sisters, Margarita Madrigal and Francis Rodriguez.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where prayer services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League St., Norwalk. The Rev. Francis Spierer will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
