WILLARD — Johnny Greathouse, 64, of rural Willard, died Monday at his residence.
He was born on May 2, 1943 in Buchanan, Va., to his mother, Bureda (Bentley) Greathouse Hicks and his late father Archie Greathouse, and had been a resident of Willard the past 35 years. He retired in 1997 from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky. He was a US Army veteran stationed in Germany during peacetime. He was a member of the American Legion in Delaware, Ohio, and was an avid coin collector and a gardener.
He is survived by his wife, Anna (Bolen) Greathouse whom he married on June 28, 1964; five children, Angie and Brian Gardner of Willard, Cynthia Greathouse, of Willard, Dawn and Mike Collins, of Canfield, Ohio, Johnny Greathouse Jr. and fiance’, Shannon Featheringill, of New Washington, and Ron and Samantha Greathouse, of Willard; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Bureda (Greathouse) Hicks, of Plymouth, seven brothers and five sisters; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Clarence and Tommy Greathouse; and an infant brother, Joseph.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Revs. Doc Burrows, Savel Combs, and Larry Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
