NORWALK Jack Brown, 88, of Norwalk, died Monday morning at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 18, 1918 in Cleveland, son of the late Charles R. and Lillian (Cottle) Brown and came to this area in 1928.

He graduated from Townsend High School in 1939. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II when he was stationed in Japan. He was member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. He was also a member of Firelands Post No.. 2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Norwalk, American Legion Post No. 547 Monroeville, and the Disabled American Veterans.

He retired in 1979 as a carpenter at NASA. He spent 22 years with the Norwalk Police Auxiliary, and he taught adult education at EHOVE for eight years. He enjoyed woodworking and doing handyman jobs.

He is survived by his friend, Virginia Higley.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorma (Caton) Brown; and an infant sister.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Grove Cemetery, Greenwich. The Rev. Dr. Roger E. Smith, pastor of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
