NORWALK Herbert A. Pfeiffer, 78, of Norwalk, died Sunday at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
He was born Nov. 6, 1928 in Fremont to the late Edward J. and Veneva (Bork) Pfeiffer and was a 1946 graduate of Norwalk High School.
He was a 20 year veteran of the Air Force finishing his military career in Rapid City, South Dakota where he lived for many years. He was a former member and Deacon of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rapid City and was also a member of Rapid City Lodge No. 37 Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Rebekah Lodge No. 47, Rapid City, and many Masonic Organizations including Rapid City Lodge No. 25 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed pets, music and gardening.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and George Szigeti of St. Louis, Mo., Diana and Darwin Klassy of Lexington Park, Md. and Barbara and J.P. Allen of Clarksfield, Tenn.; stepsons, Lloyd Gibson of Rapid City, South Dakota and Wesley and Lillian Gibson of Kalamazoo, Mich., five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert G. and Cleo Pfeiffer of Norwalk; and a sister and brother-in-law, Bonita and William Kay of Corning, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty M. (Fergeson) Pfeiffer in 1984; and second wife, Margaret J. (Gibson) Pfeiffer in 2000.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Funeral services will be in Rapid City with burial in Black Hills National Cemetery.

BELLEVUE Helen K. Ellison, 59, of Bellevue, died Sunday at St Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 5, 1948 in Willard the daughter of the late Troy Collins Sr. and Alma (Predieri) Collins of Plymouth. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Herschel, whom she married Oct. 21, 1980 in Kentucky; mother, Alma Collins of Plymouth; sons, Tim Ferguson of Bellevue, Todd Ferguson of Willard and Christopher Ferguson of Bellevue; a daughter, Ma Linda Ellison of Willard; 12 grandchildren; and brothers, Troy Collins Jr. of Willard and Gary Collins of Willard.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, James "Butch" Collins.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Home, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard, where a funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday with pastor Danny Hamilton officiating.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Willard.

SHILOH Lee Spencer, 91, of Shiloh, died Monday at his home.
He was born on June 15, 1916 in Floyd County, Ky., son of the late Martin and Maude (Moore) Spencer and had been a resident of the Willard, Plymouth and Shiloh areas most of his life.
He retired from the former Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by sons, Duke Spencer of Plymouth and David Spencer of Shiloh; a daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Kevin Lehman of Shiloh; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Percie Spencer on April 6, 2000; daughters, Anna Ruth Spencer and Bess Lewis; two great-grandsons; and brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, where the funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
