PLYMOUTH - Harvey A. James Sr., 81, of Plymouth, died Sunday at Willard Healthcare Center.
He was born July 2, 1926 in Summit County's Norton Township, son of the late Harry and Grace (Marvin) James. He had been a Plymouth resident since 1984, moving from Greenwich.
He was a retired mechanic from the Chapin and Chapin Construction Company in Norwalk.
He was a member of the Shelby Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he served as an elder. He enjoyed spending time with fellow believers and sharing his Bible-based hope for the future with others.
He is survived by his wife, Fern P. (Spade) James, whom he married March 3, 1945; sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey A. Jr. and Carrie James of Norwalk, Harry G. and Sandy James of Pennsylvania and Henry J. Sr. and Christine James of Mays Lick, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Dave Dugan of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Diane Whitacre.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. July 21 at the Kingdom Hall on Ohio 61 South, just outside Plymouth.
Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth assisted the family with arrangements.
