NORWALK — Harold Philip Missler, 81, of Norwalk, died Tuesday at the family home.

Missler was born Dec. 12, 1925 in Bellevue, son of Clemence and Mary (Fritz) Missler. He was a 1943 graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School.

He was a proud and active member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the parish’s Cemetery Board, Vocation Committee, and Diocesan D.D.F. board. He was also a member of the Norwalk area food bank, Bronson Norwalk Conservation League, and the Buckeye Liquor Dealer Association.

The tavern business of 40 years was his life career at Harold’s Bar in Norwalk and Bob’s Bar in Fremont. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and mentoring tavern owners.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Viola M. (Weisenberger); children and their spouses, Sister Susan Mary Missler, SND, of Fremont, Steve and Margie Missler of North Ridgeville, the Rev. John Missler of Port Clinton, Danny and Denise Missler of Norwalk, Julie and David Filipucci of Fort Wayne, Ind., Jennifer and Robert Korte of Keller, Texas, Janet and Keith Madaras of Pemberville; 10 grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Ethel Missler of Norwalk; a sister-in-law Rita Missler of Fremont; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Ronald Stieber of Norwalk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemence and Mary Missler; and a brother, Robert Missler.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where a scripture service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, with his son, the Rev. John Missler, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Norwalk.
