H. Joyce Barrett, 81, of Sandusky, passed away late Thursday evening, April 26, 2007, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.

She was born in Sandusky on October 16, 1925 and was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. She had worked as a secretary at Perkins High School from 1962 until her retirement in 1985. Prior to that she had worked at Esmond Dairy from 1943 until 1952. Joyce loved her cats, baking and cross word puzzles. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and a volunteer at the Humane Society of Erie County.

She is survived by her daughter, Naomi (James) Hazelwood of Sandusky; son, Stanley (Renee) Barrett of Sandusky; step-son, Terry (Paula) Barrett of Sandusky; two grandsons, Matthew Barrett of Columbus, OH and Nathan Barrett of Sandusky; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Carl & Helen Johanna (Erdman) Papke; husband, Clayton C. "Clay" or "Doc" Barrett in 1983; daughter in infancy, Helen (1950); 3 sisters, Marie Hughes, Charlotte Wonderland, Catherine Ryan; 2 brothers, Paul and Carl Papke.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 5 - 8 PM at the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. A private family funeral service will be held on Monday, April 30. Chaplain Clyde Mayberry of Stein Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
