NORWALK — George N. Widman, 81, of Norwalk, died early Wednesday morning at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 9, 1925 in Sandusky to the late George F. and Loretta (Myers) Widman and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a veteran of the Navy serving in World War II.
He was a member of the Norwalk Bronson C o n s e r v a t i o n Club. He retired in 1991 from Norwalk’s water and street departments and enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, cooking, and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Rose (Cooper) Widman of Norwalk; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph G. and Barb Widman of Norwalk, William R. and Carrie Widman of St. Marys, Mark B. Widman of Genoa, and Chris and Joni Widman of Tiffin; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Margaret and Dean Watson of Tiffin and Ruth Ann Stocker of Norwalk; 16 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Sparks of Willard.
Friends may call from 2 to 4:30 and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where the Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. and a wake service at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Speier will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
