WILLARD — Franklin Edward Schiffel, 85, of Willard, died Sunday at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.

He was born Dec. 1, 1921 to the late Stephen and Pauline (Habakus) Schiffel and had been a life long Willard resident.

He was a 1941 graduate of Willard High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1942, serving three years during World War II. He retired in 1983 as a floor inspector from the former Standard Tube Company in Shelby. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard and the Willard V.F.W Post.

He is survived by his daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Bill Armatrout of Willard and Marsha Schiffel of Medina; a son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Mardell Schiffel of Willard; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Steve Schiffel of Mansfield.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia E. (Reese) Schiffel on Sept. 6, 2006; four brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Secor Funeral Home in Willard, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Jerry Rhea will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Willard.
