Eva Gertrude Dutt

NORWALK Eva Gertrude (Hass) Dutt, 86, of Norwalk and formerly of Columbus, died Sunday.

She was born Oct. 30, 1920 to Sammuel Benjamin and Alma May (Stewart) Hass in Cardington.

She graduated from Cardington High School and she attended Nyack Missionary Training Institute, now Nyack College, in Nyack, N.Y.

In 1941 she married Charles Clarence Dutt and soon after that they both embarked on 40 years of ministry in the Christian and Missionary Alliance pastoring churches in Dallas, Texas; Centerville, La., Columbus and Sandusky; Aurora, Ind.; South Holland, Ill.; and Zanesville. They spent their retired years living in Columbus. During her ministry helping her husband, she served in various capacities in the church including Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, director of Vacation Bible schools, Five Day Clubs, and active in Child Evangelism. She was director of a children's day care school. She was actively involved in the Women's ministries in both local and regional and district levels. She even filled the pulpit on Sundays when she was asked. She was an avid reader and self taught Bible teacher. She was a speaker at various groups to present her stories with her scenofelt flannel board.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Rinehart of Louisville, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Dave Terry of Attica; and three grandchildren, five great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Dutt in 2000; and sisters, Evelyn Dutt and Helen McKinstry.

Friends may call from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westview Alliance Church, 3308 El Paso Dr., Columbus. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery, Marion.
