NORWALK Elizabeth V. (Corey) (Wheeler) Nippell, 93, of Norwalk, died Sunday at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 31, 1913 to the late John and Flora (Herman) Corey.

She was valedictorian and class president at St. Paul High School, class of 1931. She worked at Fanny Farmer Candy in Norwalk for many years and also was active with her jazz band since the 1930s. She taught piano lessons to all age groups and often served three generations of families.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the American Federation of Musicians. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed teaching the art to others. She was active with the church festivals, and enjoyed her special cat, Katzi, and feeding birds and raccoons at her home.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, DeEtte and Richard Zimmerman of Norwalk; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Carolyn Wheeler of Millersburg; a daughter-in-law, Delores Wheeler of Norwalk; a sister, Sister Mary Herman, SND of Toledo; a sister-in-law, Regina Moellenkamp of Columbus; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emerson Wheeler in 1972; second husband, Sylvester A. Nippell in 1986; a son, Donald E. Wheeler in 2003; and a brother, Peter Corey in 1951.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
