SANDUSKY - Elizabeth A. "Biffy" (Hagg) Bartels, 86, of Sandusky, died late Monday morning at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born March 20, 1920 in Norwalk, daughter of the late Edward Phillip and Marcella Pauline (Finklenbarg) Hagg. She was a 1938 graduate of Norwalk High School.
She was a homemaker and a great mother, who dearly loved her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, but loved to go fishing. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She is survived by her twin daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannette and Dennis H. Hahn and Annette and Richard Broski; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Beverly Bartels and Michael S. Bartels, all of Sandusky; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and James Gosser Sr. of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. "Dick" Bartels on Oct. 30, 2004; sons, Kenneth R. Bartels in 1982, George Bartels in infancy; a daughter, Julieann Bartels in infancy; a sister, Mildred Kotz; and brothers, Edwin Hagg and Kenneth Hagg.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Gathering Space, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A liturgical service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Friday morning in the Gathering Space followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
