MONROEVILLE - Eldon B. Miller, 84, of Monroeville, died Monday evening in the Providence Care Center in Sandusky following a brief illness.
He was born March 8, 1923 in Monroeville and was a 1941 graduate of Monroeville High School. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer. He was an active member of the Congregational Community United Church of Christ in Monroeville, the central Erie Supply and Elevator Board, past commadore and member of the blue gavel at the Nugents Canal Yacht Club, Port Clinton, life member of the American Legion Post 547, Monroeville and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1238, Bellevue.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Elizabeth A. Stotz, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1945; a daughter, Sue (Thomas) Lund of Monroeville; sons, Thornton (Kay) Miller of Dallas, and Scott (Teresa) Miller of Monroeville; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a sister, Harriet (Edgar) Stein of Monroeville; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Irene (Sprau) Miller; and a brother, Laverne Miller.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St., Monroeville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Congregational Community United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville.
