BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — Edward R. Michener, 48, of Blythewood and a former resident of Republic, Ohio, died Dec. 1 after a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 9, 1959, son of Paul and Donna (Stahl) Michener. He graduated from Seneca East High School in 1977 and New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M. in 1979 and Indiana University in 1982. He later received his MBA from the University of Toledo. He was a CPA and a member of the American Institute or Certified Public Accountants since 1984.
He retired a major from the Army Reserves after 20 years of service.
He had worked for Vaughn Accounting, the Dana Corp. and Allied Waste Management before moving to South Carolina. He then started the Edward R. Michener CPA LLC in Lexington, S.C., and also was the owner of the Liberty Tax Service in Killian, S.C.
He was a member of Republic United Church of Christ. His interests included the Special Olympics, photography and stamp and coin collecting.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Michener of Republic; a sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and John E. Bockert of Norwalk; a sister-in-law, Milly Michener of Republic; four nephews and a niece; and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Larry Jay; and a nephew, Brad Michener.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 Ohio 19, Bloomville, and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Republic United Church of Christ in Republic, where a celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff King officiating. Burial will be in Farewell Retreat Cemetery in Republic.
