BIDDEFORD, Maine Edgar M. Denger, 70, formerly of the Maine city of Kennebunk, died May 13 at his home.
He was born July 27, 1936 in Portland, a son of Lyle and Arlene Whicher Denger.
He was a 1954 New London High School graduate.
He served in the Army Reserves from 1954 to 1959. He was employed by Saco-Lowell as a machinist for serveral years, then became a truck driver and drove an 18-wheeler for Carl Subler Trucking and Werner Enterprise for more than 25 years.
He was a volunteer fireman for Kennebunk Fire Department from 1960 to 1974, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Kennebunk, a member of the Yankeeland Chorus for several years and he was also a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford.
He enjoyed doing handy work such as carpentry, electrical and plumbing for his family and friends.
He also enjoyed music and played the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory in 1988. He is survived by two sons, Brian E. Denger and Patrick G. Denger, both of Biddeford; four daughters, Stephanie J. Richardson of Biddeford, Natasha A. Lux of Paige, Ariz., Kathleen M. Thibault of Freyburg and Judith A. Denger of Portland; a brother, Lyle (Butch) Denger of Ohio; a sister, Pauline Hayes of Wellington; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held May 17 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A Mass of Christian burial took place the following day at St. Joseph's Church, Elm Street, Biddeford. Interment took place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Biddeford.
