PLYMOUTH Dr. Pierre E. Haver, O.D., 85, of Plymouth, died Thursday at MedCentral Shelby Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1922 in Hicksville, son of the late Oliver and Letha (Wray) Haver, and had been a Plymouth resident since 1953.
He was a graduate of Fostoria High School, attended Bowling Green State University and graduated a doctor of optometry from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry.
He served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific as a medical corpsman.
He practiced in Plymouth for 35 years. He was a member of the American Optometrical Association and the Ohio Optometrical Association. He enjoyed the company of his family and researching genealogy.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Younker) Haver, whom he married Jan. 19, 1946; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. David Haver of Lancaster, Pa., Peter and Jan Haver of Mansfield, John Haver of Plymouth, Jay and Valerie Haver of Fredericksburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and George Hildebrandt of Houston; six grandchildren; and a brother, Laurence Haver of Fostoria.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ilene Haver.
A private funeral service will be held at later date and no calling hours will be observed.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Viking Academic Boosters Club, Attn: Dixie Hart, 400 Trux St., Plymouth, Ohio 44865. The contributions will be used to fortify a scholarship to assist a Plymouth High School graduate that attends a medical or health college.
