FOSTORIA Donald J. Yost, 79, of Fostoria, died Tuesday at the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria where he resided.

He was born Jan. 12, 1928 in Fostoria to the late Henry and Regina (Hoffbauer) Yost.

He retired in 1989 from Atlas Crankshaft Corp., Fostoria after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong Wood County farmer, and drove school bus for Fostoria Community Schools. He was also involved in real estate sales for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Bauman, whom he married May 2, 1953 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Bismark; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Vicky Yost of Fostoria, Denny and Judy Yost of Toledo, Gary Yost of Arcadia and Dean and Linda Yost of Lexington, Ky.; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Greg Steinkerchner of Wadsworth and Julie and Todd Nye of Fostoria; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie and Arden Vaughan of Bucyrus and Coletta Smith of Arcadia; brothers and sister-in-law, Firmin and Mary Yost of Fostoria and Robert Yost of Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Stewart, Louise Gase and Virginia Yost; and brothers, Cyril Yost and Larry Yost.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Committal prayers will take place in the Veterans Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
