WELLSTON - Clifford Dempsey Montgomery, 59, of Wellston, died Friday at his residence.
He was born May 6, 1948 in Paintsville, Ky., son of the late Marion Lee Montgomery and Amanda Alice Tackett Montgomery. He was an evangelist and attended the Pentecostal Holiness House of Prayer. He was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Vietnam era.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Burke Montgomery; children and their spouses, Amanda (Chris) Hobbs of Wellston, Clifford (Heather) Montgomery of Shelby, and Tina (Jeremy) Williams of Jackson; brothers, Mac Montgomery, Wilbur Montgomery, Jamie Montgomery and Jesse Montgomery, all of Willard; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kelsey Ann Montgomery; a brother, Benjamin Montgomery; and a sister Elizabeth Spears.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pentecostal Holiness House of Prayer in Wellston, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday with pastors Dennis Hanvey and Bo Starr officiating. Burial with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston will take place in Ridgewood Cemetery.
