COLLINS - Charles L. Tucker, 90, of Collins, died Friday evening at Twilight Gardens Nursing Center.
He was born May 11, 1917, in Ashland County, son of the late Lester C. and Pearl (Underhill) Tucker, and was a lifelong area resident.
He worked for Wikel Turkey Farm for many years and also worked for the telephone company as a line repairman.
He was a member of the Townsend Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years, and helped put together the Townsend Fire Department, starting with trucks, building and equipment.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Wakeman. He also was a board member of the Collins Elevator.
He enjoyed faming, woodworking and playing cards, being in the neighborhood card club.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Catherine Tucker of Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and Bill Kilian of Collins; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tucker in 2003; a son James L. Tucker in 2006; and a brother Lewis Tucker.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wakeman. Burial will be in Collins Cemetery.
