HUNTINGTON TWP. Aura Earline Griggs, 79, of Huntington Twp., died Thursday at her home after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 22, 1927 in Hartfield Center, to the late William and Anna (Ironmonger) VonSeggern.

She was raised in Norwalk and was a resident of Huntington Twp. for 57 years. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1946.

She operated the Findley State Park Commissary from 1969 to 1978. She was a 4-H advisor for the Huntington Sewing Susans for 20 years, a member of the Huntington Grange for more than 50 years, and a member of the Farm Bureau. She was a charter member of the Huntington Historical Society and served as treasurer for several years. She was a member of the United Church of Huntington, where she was very active and volunteered many hours in the kitchen preparing and serving meals for her church family. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and crocheting. She also made and altered wedding dresses for several women in the community.

She is survived by her children, Diana Rowan, Charles Dean (Joy) Griggs, and Kelly (Les) Sheppard, all of Huntington Twp. and Michael Griggs of Brentwood, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, George "Ray" VonSeggern of Norwalk; and sisters, Helen Poole of Norwalk and Thelma Kelley of Bucyrus.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles "Bud" in 1996; a sister, Alice Hoelzer; a brother, Edward VonSeggern; and her twin sister, Laura Saunders.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the United Church of Huntington, 26677 State Route 58, Wellington. Funeral services will take place at the church at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Steve Carmany will officiate. Burial will follow in Huntington Cemetery.
