ASHLAND Arthur Maxwell Jackson, 66, of Ashland, died Monday at his home in Ashland.
He was born in 1940 in Covington, Va. to the late Arthur and Elsie (Taylor) Jackson. He grew up in Wellington and lived in Wakeman from 1971 to 1985, then Lagrange from 1985 to 1997, and had been a resident of Ashland since 1997. He was a 1957 graduate of Wellington High School and had served in the Navy.
He worked for Ohio Edison as a leader lineman, where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of the Gibson Masonic Lodge, Wakeman and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon (Wacker) Jackson; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and David Harmelink of Iowa, Carol and Robert Wallace of Lagrange, Amanda and Thomas Simon of Elyria; brothers, Dennis Jackson of Wellington and Roland Smith of Oberlin; three sisters Sylvia Brafford, Janice Sarver, Julia Moore, all of Virginia; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, with Masonic services being observed at 8:30 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 S. Main St., Wellington, with the Rev. Brian Burke officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
