HURON - Allen J. Lewis, 63, of Huron, died early Wednesday morning at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 23, 1943 in Concord, N.C. He was a graduate of Bellevue High School. He lived in Norwalk for many years before moving to Huron.
He retired from Delphi after 39 years, the majority of which were spent as a UAW Committeeman.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 913 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Campbell), whom he married May 27, 2000; a daughter, Beth (Joshua) Bowen of Sandusky; a son, Brian A. (Crystal) Lewis of Sandusky; a stepdaughter, Gretchen Smelter of New York; stepsons, Timothy (Brittany) Smelter of Sandusky and Phillip Smelter of Connecticut; four grandchildren and another yet to be born; three stepgrandchildren; a sister, Becky Miller of Clyde; a brother, Bill (Sharon) Lewis of Bellevue; and in-laws, Adeline and Dwain Lewis of Venice, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elgia Elizabeth (Scott) Hummerickhouse; and a stepfather, Bill Hummerickhouse.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
