NORWALK Alberta M. Christopher, 84, of Norwalk, died Sunday morning at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

She was born May 21, 1923 in Bronson Township to the late Oscar and Frances K. (Ruff) Welfle.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a 1941 graduate of St. Paul High School. She was a former secretary at Norwalk Truck Lines where she spearheaded fund raising for the construction of Fisher-Titus Hospital. She was also a former secretary of the Huron County Clerk of Courts office. She retired from Norwalk City Schools as a bus driver in 1985.

She was a volunteer for promoting Norwalk City School levies and was a volunteer tutor with the Norwalk City Schools Literacy Program. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a former member of the Norwalk Athletic Booster Club and was an avid Norwalk Trucker sports fan. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and enjoyed The Ohio State University marching band.

She is survived by her son, John S. Christopher of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn M. and Herbert Mayer of Clarksville and Cynthia C. and Mark Smith of Lexington, S. Ca.; five grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Joan Welfle of Norwalk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Christopher in 1990; and brothers, Charles, Alfred and Andrew Welfle.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
