NORWALK Agnes M. Pickett, 95, of Norwalk, died Wednesday at Gaymont Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 1, 1911 in Huron County to the late Frederick and Anna (Manlet) Bischoff. She lived in this area her entire life.
She was a 1929 graduate of St. Paul High School and attended Bowling Green State University. She was a life long member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she was the lector at 11 a.m. Mass until her late 80s.
She was a member of St. Paul Altar and Rosary Society Former Regent, was active in the Norwalk Business and Professional Women becoming district director, a secretary to the Huron County Mental Health Center, volunteered at Christie Lane, worked for both the Norwalk and Sandusky Sears stores and was bar manager of the Norwalk Knights of Columbus in her later years.
She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Hits for Misses League for over 25 years, a member of the Berlin Heights Bridge Club, an avid crossword puzzle player and she was also the first woman to be inducted into the Norwalk Elks 730.
She is survived by a son, Philip L. Pickett of Norwalk; daughters, Lynne (Thomas) Kramer of Maumee and Sara "Sally" (Cise) Hoffman of Huron; six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 17 stepgreat-grandchildren and six great-great-stepgrandchildren; and sisters, Mildred Lynch of Lakewood and Alma Wood of Norwalk.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Philip; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Pickett; and sisters, Thelma Stoll, Pauline Simon and Florence Booth.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where prayer services will take place at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. David Cirata officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
