NORTH FAIRFIELD Arna Lewis, 90, of North Fairfield, died Thursday at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born June 16, 1916 in Morgan County, Ky. to the late Robert and Stella (Blevins) Lewis he had been a North Fairfield resident since 1962.
A graduate of Cannel City High School in Kentucky, he was employed as an electrician and a carpenter for many years before retiring from Jerry Kilgore Construction. His passion was serving the Lord. For 72 years he served as a pastor, including 39 years at the Empire Church of Deliverance in Mansfield. Along with preaching the word of God, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, baseball, cookouts and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell (Bailey) Lewis, whom he married March 19, 1962; sons and daughters-in-law, Garner and Linda Prater of Huntsville, Ala., Mitchel and Sheila Prater of North Fairfield, James O. and Linda Prater of North Fairfield, and Rev. Rick and Connie Lewis of Shelby; daughters and sons-in-law, Reda Mae Harper of West Liberty, Ky., Leara and John Dalzell of Huber Heights, and Lena and Ronnie Roach of North Fairfield; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Carmie Lewis and Charles (Edna Mae) Lewis, both of West Liberty, Ky.; a sister, Lydia Helton of Springboro; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Dean Lewis; a brother, Elbert Lewis, one granddaughter, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from the Church of God, London West Road in Shelby. Reverends Rick Lewis and Mitchel Prater, his sons, will officiate. Burial in North Fairfield Cemetery.
