ELYRIA — Ruth (Brown) Dunlap Shifhoski, 99, of Elyria, died Thursday at Life Care Center of Elyria.

She was born July 17, 1907 in Norwalk. She graduated from New London High School in 1926 and was the oldest living graduate. She previously had lived in New London, LaPorte, and Naples, Fla., before returning to Elyria in 1977.

She was a cook and had managed the cafeteria at East Carlisle Elementary School from 1943 to 1957.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elyria. She enjoyed knitting, chrocheting and playing cards.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn A. Hadaway of Elyria; a son, Charles R. Dunlap of Kirkland; a stepdaughter, Rita Koteless of Strongsville; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Dunlap in 1946 and Felix Shifkoski in 1978; sisters, Marguerite Clifford and Grace Skinner; and half brothers Thomas and Leslie Roberts.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Lowell W. Scheufler will officiate. Burial will be in Fitchville Cemetery.
