STUART, Fla. — Dorothy Elizabeth Drury, 89, of Stuart, died Friday surrounded by her family.
She was born in Pandora, Ohio, grew up in Willard, Ohio, and graduated from Willard High School.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Otterbein College, and a master's degree in nursing from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. She had the privilege of attending the medical school graduation of four generations of her family including her father, husband, son and two grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Willard, Ohio. Her grandparents, the Rev. Sanford and Esther Sage, were twice missionaries in Sierra Leone, Africa.
Her greatest joy in life was hearing from and being with family and friends, and sharing her homemade cookies.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Ann Drury of Huron, Ohio; and daughters, Rosanna McGovern of Chicago, Margaret Drury of Huron, Mary Kay and Ed Kray of Harrisonburg, Va. and Jean Drury of Maumee, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one nephew and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. J.C. and Frances Steiner; her husband of 54 years, Dr. Walter A. Drury; a grandson, Brenden McGovern; and a sister, Geraldine Whisler.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., Willard, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 401 E. Howard St., Willard, Ohio. The Rev. Ken Gifford will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Willard, Ohio.
