SANDUSKY — Betty M. Maloney, 92, of Norwalk, died early Monday morning at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
She was born May 3, 1914 in Clendenin, W.Va. to the late Edgar G. and Mary E. (Osborne) Morrison, and came to this area in 1979 from Charlotte, N.C.
She attended Salem College in Winston Salem, N.C. and Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. She was active in the family retail business, Morrison Stores, and served as a teller in the F&T State Bank in Clendenin. After moving to Norwalk, she assisted her daughter in the Book Nook Store. She was a member of the Elks Ladies Golf League and Elite Bridge Club. She enjoyed bridge, crafting, and reading.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David R. and Mary K. Maloney of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Frank Irilli of Norwalk; a daughter-in-law, Beth Maloney of High Point, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, David E. and Juanita G. Morrison of Charleston, W.Va.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Maloney of Charleston, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Patrick Maloney in 1978; a son, Michael M. Maloney in 2005; and a sister, Billie M. Simmons in 1997.
An informal gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Clyde Mayberry, chaplain of Stein Hospice Service, will officiate.
