A voice remembered

The late Bellevue High School graduate known as "the girl with the voice" chose protecting the public over performing as a career.

During her funeral in May, Bonnie Lirtzman was honored as a late Columbus peace officer.

On Saturday, she was remembered for her vocal prowess. Friends and family held an ice cream social at the Bellevue Society for the Arts (BSA) theater, 205 Maple St.

The event's purpose was to allow those who knew Lirtzman, who died of breast cancer in May at age 35, to socialize and remember her. A plaque will be presented to her family. Its exact contents are to be a surprise, but the words refer to Lirtzman's legacy as a performer.
