Local teen to be screened for intervention

A rural New London man will be screened for possible acceptance into the drug intervention program.

If Devin M. Anderson, 19, of 1345 County Road 16, is accepted and then successfully completes a certified substance abuse program, he won't have a conviction on his record.

Anderson recently waived his right to a speedy trial. He is charged with theft of a motor vehicle in connection with an Oct. 27 incident. The fourth-degree felony is punishable by six to 18 months behind bars.

The defendant is out, having posted a $5,000 bond.
