A pair of Willard women are accused of assaulting a female victim with a baseball bat during a party Sunday.

Rachel L. Hale, 33, of 113 Woodland Ave., is charged with felonious assault while her suspected accomplice, Kelly M. McCoy, 35, of 4252 Postema Court, faces complicity to felonious assault. If convicted, each defendant faces two to eight years in prison.

Norwalk Law Director Stuart O’Hara said the suspects approached the adult female victim during a party outside of Willard.

“One of them grabbed her from behind and helped hold her and the other one hit her with a baseball bat,” O’Hara said.

The victim went to a hospital with contusions and lacerations to her face, head and chest, he said, and was released later.

It’s unknown how or if the suspects and victim know each other.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation of the suspected incident.
