The couple may or may not have tied the knot -- that's the drama inherent in this planned ceremony, which was to take place last week in Suhr Family Park in Norwalk.

This was not just any other civil ceremony.

It was arranged by organizers of the TLC television program "90 Day Fiancé."

According to its website, it offers "a never-before-seen look into the world of international dating and matrimony."

It works like this: Four non-American women use a 90-day fiancé visa -- the K-1 visa -- to travel to the U.S. to live with their overseas fiancés for the first time.

"The couples must marry before their visas expire in 90 days, or the visiting fiancees have to return home," the website reads. "The women will have to overcome language barriers, culture shock, the stigma of the 'mail order bride' and skeptical friends and family -- all with a clock that starts the moment they step foot on U.S. soil. Rolling the dice on a cross-border romance, we discover whether these foreign brides-to-be can find their happily ever after in America.

"The stakes are incredibly high as these couples will each be forced to make a life-altering decision: get married or send their international mate home."

What happened in Norwalk? You'll have to tune in to learn; this was a private ceremony.

Dustin Smith, vice president of communications for TLC, said the fact the couple "may/may not get married is the big reveal in the show," so program officials want to "keep that under wraps."

Smith said either couples looking to get married contact show officials or a production company casts the show by seeking out couples.

In the Norwalk case, the program has been following the couple for a couple of months. It marks the first time the U.S. resident is a female, Smith said. He added the couple knew each other for a few weeks before the man came to the U.S.

The program's first season was TLC's highest rated freshman series so far this year.

Smith said he didn't have an air date to release for the Norwalk episode; it will air sometime this fall on TLC.
